A year at our school

Welcome back to school.
Staff welcomed our students back to DPS for an exciting year of learning.

Student leadership.
Student leaders had a wonderful day learning about the positive impact of effective leadership.

Harmony Day @ DPS
DPS celebrated the cultural diversity that makes the DPS school community so rich and so special. Students dressed in their native dress or wore orange proudly, acknowledging that everyone belongs at DPS.

Commemorating ANZAC Day.
Our school community came together to commemorate ANZAC Day with a respectful and moving ceremony. Led by our school captains and prefects, the service was a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by Australian servicemen and women. We were honoured to welcome Mr Bryan West, a representative from Parramatta RSL, who joined us for the occasion and addressed the school. It was heartening to see the entire school showing such genuine respect and reflection during this important event.

DPS celebrating Easter.
What a day was had on the last day of term 1! Kindergarten and Stage 1 proudly showcased their creative and colourful hats during the Easter Hat Parade, with families cheering them on. Meanwhile, students in Years 3 to 6 wowed the school community with their imaginative "Eggstravaganza" dioramas, turning our school hall into a gallery of 'egg-cellent' Easter scenes. It was a joyful celebration and the very best way to bring on the school holidays!

Celebrating Mother's Day @ DPS
We had a wonderful morning celebrating the amazing mothers in our school community.

Exciting Day at the Australian Museum!
On Friday, our Stage 1 students embarked on an incredible adventure to the Australian Museum! They participated in the 'Dinosaurs' and 'Animals in Our Living World' programs, where they created fossil moulds and explored real and replicated specimens.
The students were captivated by the amazing animal features they discovered and enjoyed applying their knowledge while searching for mystery animals. Their curiosity led to many inquisitive questions throughout the day!

Stage 3 students visit Camden Park Education Centre.
Students experienced what life was really like in the 1850’s. Students started the day as farmers, having to herd sheep and check them for disease, then the town crier announced that gold had been discovered in Bathurst! They then packed up, left the farm and headed to the goldfields! They had to get a loan from the bank, form a syndicate with other miners, buy their supplies, cook dampers, churn butter, pitch their tents and make their own tent pegs at the blacksmith! They even rode on a wagon to pan for alluvial gold in the river.

Kindy excursion to Calmsley Hill Farm.
The students learned all about the products we get from these animals and the crops that farmers grow. The highlight of the excursion was milking a cow and taking a bumpy and dusty ride on a tractor!

Stage 2 waking Up at Taronga Zoo!
The highlight of our overnight stay was definitely the close encounters with some of the zoo's amazing animals. Our brave students got to touch snakes and cuddle with adorable possums! These hands-on experiences truly brought our learning to life.

Kindergarten Farmer’s Market
Kindergarten students were so proud to share their learning about how food is grown, harvested, and makes its way into our homes. It was wonderful to see so many families braving the rain to support the market and learn more about farming. Stage 3 students were fantastic customers - asking thoughtful questions and encouraging our Kindy farmers.

Book Week @ DPS!
Down the rabbit hole we go! Celebrating Book Week with our very own Queen of Hearts, Alice, and a deck of fabulous teachers!

3-6 Athletics Carnival
What an incredible day at our Athletics Carnival! Our students showed amazing sportsmanship, determination, and talent across all events. A huge thank you to everyone who participated, cheered, and helped make the day such a success. Congratulations to all our athletes on their fantastic performances – you made us proud!

Celebrating NAIDOC week
Warami! What an incredible NAIDOC day celebrating the histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Students took part in Indigenous sporting games, spear throwing, dreamtime activities, and art projects (including a whole-school mural!). They also explored cultural artefacts and even heard the sounds of the Yidaki (didgeridoo) – with Mr Raven giving it a go too!
Thank you Ms Zadro for organising such a wonderful day for the students of DPS.
A huge thank you to Dalmarri for generously sharing culture and knowledge with us, and to our amazing staff and students for their positivity and enthusiasm in making the day so special.

Celebrating Father's Day @ DPS
This morning’s Father’s Day breakfast was a wonderful celebration filled with delicious food, fun games, and great company! Thank you to all the dads, grandads, and special father figures who joined us. Wishing everyone a fantastic Father’s Day this Sunday – we hope your day is as special as you are!
"Dundas is a great school because it nurtures all the children it cares for. It is small and benefits from being so. The teachers really care and are open to communication.” — a parent of Dundas Public School
"DPS is a great school because they have a wonderful community of staff, parents and students. They are always creating new fun ways to learn. They have lots of activities going on. They always encourage students' positive behaviour by recognising and acknowledging them through awards and rewards. There are many incentives for students to be kind and considerate towards their friends, teachers and parents."— a parent of Dundas Public School
