Our extra-curricular highlights

Student leadership
Student leadership at Dundas Public School provides various structured opportunities for students to develop leadership skills, participate in school decision-making, and become active, responsible citizens. Key programs include the Student Representative Council (SRC) for representing student views and the PALs (Peers and Leaders) program, where Year 5 students help organize playground activities and promote positive play. These initiatives help students find their voices, make a real impact on their school environment, and gain valuable life skills like empathy, decision-making, and positive communication.

Creative and performing arts
Our band, drama, music and art programs help students be creative and express themselves. They can join in concerts, art shows, choir and drama activities.

Trips and excursions
Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world.

Debating and public speaking
Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking. They also have the chance to compete in local and state events.

Dialogue @ Dundas media group
'Dialogue at Dundas' is a fortnightly student-produced video series from Dundas Public School, designed to showcase student talent and share school updates with the community. It serves as a platform for students to demonstrate their abilities while also providing important information about the school.

Student school magazine
Stage 3 students work collaboratively to produce a school student magazine each term, serving as an educational platform for developing writing and media skills, fostering school spirit, and providing a way to share school news and experiences with the wider community.

Coding Club
The DPS Coding club offer students hands-on opportunities to develop programming skills by creating games, apps, and websites using block-based and text-based languages like Scratch and Python. Students foster teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking while boosting digital literacy.

DERT
At Dundas Public School, DERT stands for the Dundas Environmentally Responsible Team, a student group focused on improving the school gardens and the overall school environment. Led by staff members Mrs. Benco and Mr. Dean, this team works on projects to enhance the school's environmental responsibility and appeal.
