Our extra-curricular highlights
Academic competitions
Our school provides students with excellent opportunities to participate in a variety of academic competitions, including the prestigious Maths Olympiad. These competitions challenge and inspire our students to extend their learning beyond the classroom, develop critical thinking skills, and engage with like-minded peers. We are committed to supporting our students as they strive for academic excellence and enjoy the rewarding experience of representing our school in these enriching events.
Student leadership
Student leadership at Dundas Public School provides various structured opportunities for students to develop leadership skills, participate in school decision-making, and become active, responsible citizens. Key programs include the Student Representative Council (SRC) for representing student views and the PALs (Peers and Leaders) program, where Year 5 students help organize playground activities and promote positive play. These initiatives help students find their voices, make a real impact on their school environment, and gain valuable life skills like empathy, decision-making, and positive communication.
Creative and performing arts
Our band, drama, music and art programs help students be creative and express themselves. They can join in concerts, art shows, choir and drama activities.
Representative sporting opportunities
Our school proudly offers students a wide range of opportunities to represent not only our school community but also the zone, region, and state in various sports. We encourage and support our students to develop their skills, participate in competitive events, and demonstrate sportsmanship at all levels. Through dedication and teamwork, our athletes gain valuable experience and proudly showcase their talents while fostering a strong sense of school spirit and community pride.
PSSA competitions
Our school proudly offers students a variety of opportunities to participate in sport competitions throughout the year. Students can take part in Summer PSSA gala days as well as Winter PSSA competitions, including popular sports such as soccer, league tag, netball, and AFL. These programs provide a great chance for students to develop their skills, enjoy healthy competition, and represent our school with pride and sportsmanship.
Trips and excursions
Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world.
Debating and public speaking
Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking. They also have the chance to compete in local and state events.
Dialogue @ Dundas media group
'Dialogue at Dundas' media group is a fortnightly student-produced video series from Dundas Public School, designed to showcase student talent and share school updates with the community. It serves as a platform for students to demonstrate their abilities while also providing important information about the school.
Student school magazine
Stage 3 students work collaboratively to produce a school student magazine each term, serving as an educational platform for developing writing and media skills, fostering school spirit, and providing a way to share school news and experiences with the wider community.
Coding Club
The DPS Coding club offer students hands-on opportunities to develop programming skills by creating games, apps, and websites using block-based and text-based languages like Scratch and Python. Students foster teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking while boosting digital literacy.
