English as an Additional Language (EAL) Program
At Dundas Public School we welcome students and families from numerous language and cultural backgrounds.
Our teaching and learning programs develop intercultural understanding, promote positive relationships and enable all students to participate as active Australian and global citizens. Our school fosters student wellbeing and community harmony that encourages engagement by parents and carers from all backgrounds. The DPS Community Contact Lists provide an additional support network for our LBOTE (Language Background Other Than English) community.
At Dundas Public School we are committed to providing students learning English as an Additional Language (EAL) with the support to acquire English language proficiency and the skills necessary to function effectively as 21st Century learners. The acquisition of English (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening) is a precondition for successful schooling in Australia.
We have an English as an Additional Language (EAL) Program, a specialist program that assists children who are learning English.
In addition to mastering English, we encourage our bilingual students to maintain fluency in their first language.
